Dietary taboos for cat feeding

1.Cats fed with liver and carrots are prone to rickets and poisoning

According to research, the correct ratio of calcium to phosphorus in cat food is approximately 1:1,while the liver has less calcium and more phosphorus. The ratio of calcium to phosphorus in fresh liver reaches 1:36.If cats consume the liver for a long time,it will lead to calcium deficiency. The external manifestations of calcium deficiency include:1.weakened gastric function, loss of appetite, and an increasingly slender body.2.No longer bouncing around, afraid of heights, afraid to jump down from high places.Juvenile cats with severe calcium deficiency may experience sagging of the waist and shoulders, narrowing of the pelvic cavity, and resulting in constipation. In cold seasons, young cats are also prone to hind limb weakness, and in severe cases, they can become paralyzed. This is what we often call rickets.

The liver itself contains a large amount of vitamin A,while carrots contain B-carotene.One molecule of carotene can be broken down into two vitamin A molecules in the cat's body.If the cat is fed liver and carrots for a long time, the vitamin A in the cat's body will be severely exceeded, and the cat is prone to vitamin A poisoning.

If a cat already loves to eat liver,it can take about 10 days to mix new cat food and liver for the cat to eat.In the future, increase the amount of new food and reduce the amount of liver every day until the cat fully adapts to the new food.

2.Raw fish and meat are not edible

Eating undercooked fish can lead to a lack of vitamin B1 in cats,as raw fish produce an enzyme that disrupts vitamin B1,which can lead to spasms, heart disease, and intermittent shock.

In addition, eating raw fish for cats can also bring unnecessary parasitic troubles, which can cause trouble for you and your cat's life. The Agricultural University Animal Hospital has treated several cats with liver diseases, which were infected with parasites due to eating raw fish, leading to systemic jaundice and hepatitis.Liver disease can also lead to liver ascites and kidney disease, and these are definitely the incurable diseases of cats.
